"Blood Machine" is a self-made, fully independent CG animated short film, created as a graduation project during undergraduate studies. The entire production took nearly three years, with a total runtime of 9 minutes. The early stages—including storyboarding, scene design, character animation, and rendering—were completed independently, while color grading and sound design were done in collaboration with classmates.
The setting of the film takes place 180 years after a nuclear war between humans and artificial intelligence. Generations have lived unavoidably in a radioactive environment for years, and the radiation has caused irreversible effects on people—most humans in this era can no longer reproduce, and the rare newborns that do arrive are almost always born without fully intact bodies.
The story follows the protagonist as they evade pursuit in the urban forest, gradually revealing the world in the late era of strong AI and the shifting attitudes and perspectives toward artificial intelligence among the new generation born in the 180s.
