In the Happy Manor of Joke City, giant joke trees are cultivated. After the Book-Eating Demon King invades the Kingdom of Words, a shadow falls over Joke City. The Sadness Monster occupies Happy Island within Joke City, turning it completely into a city of sorrow. Guided by Mr. Mumu, the master of Happy Manor, Hao Hao arrives at the Sunshine Troupe in Joke City to help the troupe regain its joy. With the help of Captain Shuai Shuai, Hao Hao pilots the cruise ship "Happiness" to Happy Island for a decisive battle against the Sadness Monster. Although Hao Hao endures various hardships along the way, he ultimately defeats the Sadness Monster, revives the joke trees, and restores vitality to Joke City.
