"La Forêt de Mademoiselle Tang" tells the story of a Shantou family spanning six generations from the 19th century to the present day, set against the backdrop of China's social changes and waves of emigration. Throughout this 150-year family history, each generation faces the same question: to leave or to stay? This film is the result of director Du Laishun's reflections during his own journey of tracing his roots. "What would have become of my family if my ancestors had never left Shantou?"
