A long, long time ago, humans, animals, and demons lived together, forming a very interesting world. A little red sprite was born from an exploding stone and was adopted by a big-mouthed bird named Aka, whom the tiny sprite regarded as his father. This little sprite looked somewhat like a monkey, so his friends all called him Little Monkey. Little Monkey’s greatest wish was to fly in the sky like his father Aka. To achieve this, he endured countless hardships to find a master who could teach him to fly. He learned many skills and became the Sky-Soaring Little Monkey King. Later, because he upheld justice, the Little Monkey King offended the Heavenly Court and was besieged by the gods. In repeated confrontations with the heavens, the Little Monkey King made the celestial beings understand that those who seek to harm others will not come to a good end. Finally, the Little Monkey King, along with his good friends Zhu Bajie and Sha Heshang, escorted the Tang Monk—who grew unhappy whenever his disciples surpassed him—on a long and perilous journey to the Western Heaven to retrieve the scriptures. The Sky-Soaring Little Monkey King is kind-hearted, sincere, and willing to live in harmony with others, never considering himself extraordinary. In his eyes, all animals and spirits are good friends. He believes everyone should share joy and happiness equally, so whenever he encounters anything that disrupts world peace and tranquility, he does not hesitate to stand up for justice. It is through these countless struggles that our Sky-Soaring Little Monkey King unknowingly grows into a remarkable hero.
