The original work is a popular series by Yuu Watase serialized in Shogakukan's shoujo manga magazine "Flower Comic." The comic book version recorded a massive hit with 10 million copies sold. The TV anime version aired from April 1995 to March 1996 and also gained immense popularity. This is a specially edited video of that TV anime, "Fushigi Yuugi." The original author personally selected memorable and iconic scenes, compiling them into two volumes. It also includes newly produced footage and special video features such as voice actor retrospectives.
