"Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" is the first animated film directed by Zack Snyder, who gained fame in recent years for directing "300." This family fantasy adventure is adapted from the first three books of Kathryn Lasky's bestselling series "Guardians of Ga'Hoole." Presented in 3D, it showcases the magnificent world of animals and has been hailed as "The Lord of the Rings with owls." The story follows a young owl named Soren, deeply inspired by the legendary tales of the "Guardians of Ga'Hoole," who aspires to become a legendary sky warrior and engages in a fierce battle against the evil Pure Ones to protect all members of the owl clans.
While Soren is immersed in his dreams, eagerly hoping to become a combat hero soon, his older brother, Kludd, mocks his ideals while attempting through various means to seize and replace his younger brother's position in the family, striving to become the most favored son in their father's eyes. His jealousy leads to terrible consequences—all the young members of the family lose their home, falling from the treetops into the clutches of the Pure Ones. At this moment, Soren must act decisively, joining other peers in a daring rescue mission to save their siblings. They journey over mountains and rivers, overcoming countless obstacles to find the "Great Ga'Hoole Tree," the legendary home of the owl guardians, as it is Soren's only hope to defeat the Pure Ones and save the owl kingdom.
The voice cast for the diverse array of characters in the film includes Helen Mirren, Geoffrey Rush, Jim Sturgess, Hugo Weaving, Emily Barclay, Abbie Cornish, Ryan Kwanten, Anthony LaPaglia, Miriam Margolyes, Sam Neill, Richard Roxburgh, and David Wenham.
