The series highlights the historical culture, folk stories, and local customs involved in the construction of the Grand Canal. In particular, it utilizes the unique expressive power of animation to transcend time and space, allowing for journeys between ancient and modern eras, making the Grand Canal a bridge connecting traditional culture and modern civilization.
The protagonist, Ling Yufei, is a Beijing girl born and raised on the banks of the Beijing Canal. Her parents run a zhajiangmian restaurant in Beijing. The character design is down-to-earth, fostering a sense of familiarity, and her mischievous, adorable, and quirky personality is beloved by children. Four distinct canal spirits, each with lively appearances and unique skills, join the protagonist to form an exploration team that uncovers the stories of the Grand Canal.
