A boy yearns for nature, but his family worries about it, so he can only let his imagination run wild in his writing. Directed by Natasha Golovanova. She earned dual degrees in acting and directing from the National Film Institute. In 1971, she joined Soyuzmultfilm, directing "Disney-style" children's animations based on Russian and Eastern fairy tales. The scripts were penned by her husband, Vladimir. "Boy Will Be Boy" marks her first collaboration with female screenwriter Masha Denego and explores her own experiences raising two sons. This work, along with "Cat and Clown" (1988), extensively employs techniques of distortion and perspective shifts in space, abstractly delving into the confusion and contradictions of individuals (or nations) in their search for self-identity.
This film won the Best Children's Film award at the Varna International Animation Film Festival in Bulgaria.
