Kaiba Seto, who has always wanted to defeat Yugi and reclaim the three God Cards, goes to Pegasus in search of a card that can defeat Yugi. From Pegasus, he learns that Pegasus indeed possesses such a card. Kaiba then challenges Pegasus to a high-stakes duel, wagering his three Blue-Eyes White Dragons, and defeats him. According to Pegasus's expectations, Kaiba should only take the card "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" from the deck Pegasus provided. However, Kaiba takes two cards instead. Given Kaiba's usual demeanor, he would not be interested in any other cards in Pegasus's deck, so Pegasus immediately senses that something is wrong and tries to stop Kaiba, but to no avail. On the other hand, while visiting a museum exhibition of artifacts recently transported from Egypt, Yugi discovers a crystal pyramid resembling his Millennium Puzzle. It is said to be a symbol of the King of Light. Just as he is about to examine it closely, a nearby mummy comes to life! It snatches the crystal pyramid and knocks Yugi and the others unconscious. In his unconscious state, Yugi hears a prophecy: after the King of Light battles the King of Darkness, the King of Destruction will awaken. He also sees the crystal pyramid colliding with the Millennium Puzzle, shattering it! As everyone leaves the museum, Kaiba's challenge arrives, seemingly hinting at something ominous. When Yugi arrives at Kaiba's location, he tries to stop the duel, but Kaiba refuses to listen. Left with no choice, Yugi decides to use the duel to change the prophecy. However, after luring Yugi into summoning the three Egyptian God Cards, Kaiba sneers and raises a card—the very card he took from Pegasus along with Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon: the "Pyramid of Light"! Due to the dark power of the Pyramid of Light, the three God Cards are isolated from the duel, and Yugi's alter ego is sealed inside the Millennium Puzzle, unable to emerge. Kaiba then sacrifices his Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon to summon the card Pegasus claimed surpasses the gods—Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon! With it, he pushes Yugi to the brink of defeat.
