Three hundred years ago, the Thunder God Taishakuten rebelled against the heavens, killing the Celestial Emperor and the War God Ashura-ou. With the help of Ashura-ou's wife, Shashi, Taishakuten seized the imperial throne and began a reign of tyranny. However, a prophecy foretold: "Six stars will purge the land. You are the dark star that will defy the heavens. Your journey begins when you find a child left behind by a fallen race. I do not know if this child is good or evil, I only know this child can turn the wheel of heaven's destiny..." Guided by this prophecy, the Northern War God Yasha-ou awakened Ashura, the son of Ashura-ou who had been slumbering for three hundred years. Believing the prophecy meant the Six Stars would overthrow Taishakuten's rule, Yasha-ou and Ashura began their search for these six stars. Along their journey, a mysterious figure named Kujaku occasionally provided them aid... When the Six Stars finally gathered, Ashura's dark nature manifested.
