Legend has it that the Yellow Emperor once created "Cuju," also known as "kickball," which is the world's most primitive form of football. "Benevolence Under Heaven" tells a story about "Cuju." Although set in ancient times, the tale is purely fictional, without a specific time or place.
At that time, on Mount Tai, one of the Five Sacred Mountains, the seven great sect masters gathered to determine supremacy through martial arts, competing for the title of the world's number one. Just as tensions were rising among the sects, the current emperor, Renzong, suddenly appeared. Holding a Cuju ball in his hand, he persuaded the seven masters to cease their conflict and proposed replacing martial combat with a ball game, integrating their unique skills into the sport to compete for the "Invincible Benevolence Cup." The champion would be recognized as the supreme master of the martial world.
Renzong had long felt that the phrase "world's number one" had, throughout history, claimed countless lives. Thus, he sought to use Cuju matches to eliminate killing and reduce the bloodshed in the martial world, bringing peace to the land. This groundbreaking initiative not only sparked a Cuju craze across the Central Plains but also allowed the martial world to enjoy peace for over a decade.
Unfortunately, peace never lasts long. The "Wild Wolf Tribe" from beyond the borders formally challenged Renzong to a Cuju match! Renzong knew that the true purpose of the Wild Wolf Tribe was to use the match as a pretext to invade and conquer the Central Plains. Renzong united the elites of the seven great sects and narrowly defeated the Wild Wolf Team.
Just as Renzong was relieved that a Cuju match had averted a war, he remained unaware that the Wolf Tribe leader had secretly sent agents to infiltrate the seven great sects, stealing their Cuju techniques in preparation for a future comeback to avenge their humiliation.
