The story takes place in Siberia in 1917. Corto Maltese is entrusted by the Chinese secret society "Red Lantern Society" in Hong Kong to travel to Siberia in search of an armored train loaded with gold belonging to the Russian imperial family. However, the train is also coveted by the Soviet Red Army, the Russian White forces, and Chinese northern warlords. How will he accomplish this entrusted mission and achieve the impossible task? This film is adapted from Hugo Pratt's manga of the same name, blending the unique soft and elegant style of European comics, the refinement of Japanese animation, and the dynamism of American animation.
