Story Background — A white-robed Taoist arrives to eradicate a snake demon living in seclusion deep within the mountains. This is essentially a tragic tale bound by feudal ethics. The female protagonist falls in love with a scholar from a wealthy family, whose relatives are eager for him to attain high office. Unfortunately, after repeatedly failing the imperial examinations for years, he coincidentally meets the snake demon and falls in love with her. Enraged, his family spends a fortune to hire the white-robed Taoist to eliminate the snake demon and erase all traces of their life together. However, they never anticipated that the white-robed Taoist is also a demon—one who has long walked among humans, with profound and deep cultivation!! Behind his decision to spare the snake demon lies a far more intricate scheme. In the end, the snake demon cannot escape her tragic fate. After her two children narrowly survive, they embark on separate paths of growth.
