A voyage that ends where it began, but after which, nothing will ever be the same. This is the story of the brave navigators who took hold of history and changed its course forever. As many know, Magellan began the journey, but the true protagonist of our story, Juan Sebastián Elcano, was the one who completed it. What drove these sailors to undertake such a perilous voyage? Their desire to reach the Moluccas, an Indonesian archipelago and a distant paradise brimming with spices and aromatic plants. But how could they get there if the only known route was the exclusive privilege of the Kingdom of Portugal? Well, the answer was simple; sail from the other direction! Yet, the challenges awaiting these brave men were far greater: storms, hunger, hostile tribes, and all manner of incredible trials and tribulations would hinder the progress of our courageous travelers. In 1519, five ships set sail from Seville. Three years later, only one of them managed to return, having completed the full circle of their adventure and ultimately proving that the Earth is round.
