"Renku" is a unique Japanese literary form, somewhat similar to Chinese couplets, composed collaboratively by multiple poets. The first person recites an opening verse called the "hokku," and the next person responds with a related "ageku." This work animates the famous Japanese renku collection, Matsuo Bashō's "Winter Days," under the direction of Kihachirō Kawamoto. It brings together 35 renowned Japanese and international animators, including Yōji Kuri, Isao Takahata, and Kōji Yamamura, employing diverse artistic styles such as watercolor, oil painting, ink wash painting, puppet theater, and CG graphics. The collection includes all 35 groups comprising 36 works, among which are two pieces by Kihachirō Kawamoto. In addition to one main feature DVD, this set also includes eight documentary DVDs that record the research and creative processes of the 35 animators, making it highly valuable for collectors. A standard edition DVD containing only the main feature will also be released simultaneously.
