All things in the world are interconnected. When animals die, their souls turn into orbs of light, gathering beneath the Tree of Life, then passing through flower buds to become the souls of new lives. Animals, plants, and all things in the world are fundamentally linked. In this world, both animals and humans have a small glowing orb above their heads. In the city, a young boy carries the only brightly shining orb, standing in stark contrast to those around him whose orbs remain dim. Others shed their uniform attire, loosen their belts, and only when they transform into their true forms do their orbs emit a faint glow. They unleash bursts of emotion to make their orbs shine intensely, supplying energy to power the city. Those whose orbs dim from exhaustion are discarded as waste by the massive mechanical city. The city operates day after day, until the appearance of a little fox.
