From 1969 to 1970, Rankin/Bass Productions created the television anime "Advance, Advance! Smokey" (original title: Smokey the Bear), which aired on ABC every Sunday morning. The animation for this series was handled by Japan's Toei Doga (now Toei Animation), and in Japan, it was broadcast within the "Shonen Eiga Gekijo" (Boy's Film Theater) programming block on NHK General TV.
