The story takes place during the rise of the Roman Empire, when the Atlantic coast had already been entirely occupied by the formidable Roman army, leaving only a small Gaulish village still stubbornly resisting the invasion. Asterix (voiced by Roger Carel) and Obelix (voiced by Jacques Frantz) are two obscure little figures living there, and they are about to undertake a great mission: to rescue Justforkix (voiced by Lorànt Deutsch), who has been kidnapped by the enemy. Although Justforkix is the nephew of the Gaulish chieftain, he is an extremely timid and cowardly person. However, according to ancient legend, such a person will be granted the ability to fly, which means Justforkix becomes the only hope for saving the village and its people. During this journey, Justforkix meets the beautiful and gentle Abba (voiced by Sara Forestier) and falls in love.
