Dreams Traverse the World: Pioneer of Overseas Technical Cooperation
This work depicts the life of Yutaka Kubota, who pioneered international consulting, using animation, archival photographs, and live-action footage. Raised at the foot of the majestic Mount Aso, Yutaka Kubota aspired to work with nature and pursued a path in civil engineering. He came to believe that building dams and power plants was the key to enriching society, eventually succeeding in constructing what was then the world's largest dam on the Sino-Korean border. After the war, Kubota chose a second career as a consultant, utilizing his experience and skills in project consultation, design, planning, and surveys, and provided construction guidance worldwide. The work showcases his achievements as one of the pre-war civil engineers in the lineage of Isamu Hiroi, while also illustrating Japan's post-war overseas cooperation and the development of the consulting industry. It is a remarkable production that appeals not only to elementary and middle school students but also to working adults, and is a work we hope will be widely viewed by the general public.
