A woman comes to Kogoro, asking for his help in guarding a gemstone. The woman's name is Makki Juri, a leading actress representing Japan. She has received a notice that someone will come to steal the gemstone "Gem of Destiny" in her possession, and the one who sent the notice is none other than the phantom thief Kaitou Kid. Kogoro asserts that Kid will come to steal the gem on the final day of the traditional play in which Juri stars. So the next day, Conan, Kogoro, Ran, and the Detective Boys head to Tokyo Shiodome for the traditional play's performance. Conan is skeptical of Kogoro's deduction and deduces Kid's appearance himself. However, the one who appears there is none other than Kudo Shinichi!
That man appears before Conan again? Can Conan protect the gemstone!? And then?
Of course, that Shinichi is definitely not the real one. But to prove that Shinichi is fake, Conan would have to reveal his own identity. Kid seems to understand this and boldly tries to stay close to Ran, while also freely deducing that Kid will come from the rooftop. Meanwhile, on the stage where Juri stars, a scene from "Empress Josephine" is being performed. With his true identity seen through by Conan, how will Kid steal this blue gemstone!? And what greater trial awaits Conan and the others?
