A woman comes to Kogoro, asking for his help in guarding a gemstone. The woman's name is Makki Juri, a leading actress representing Japan. She has received a notice that someone will come to steal the gemstone "Gem of Destiny" in her possession, and the one who sent the notice is none other than the phantom thief Kaitou Kid. Kogoro asserts that Kid will come to steal the gem on the final day of the traditional play in which Juri stars. So the next day, Conan, Kogoro, Ran, and the Detective Boys head to Tokyo Shiodome for the traditional play's performance.
