The evil sorcerer Gasper, in order to gain greater power, sends his bat minions to steal the fairy's magic wand. However, the seal on it gives him a headache—unless he has the fairy's incantation, no one can use the wand, and the best method is to capture the fairy herself. An evil plan is about to unfold.
The diligent young farmer Rufus uses all his savings to buy a barbershop on the opposite island, Mirrorland, only to be mocked by the townspeople. It turns out that the king of this country has an extremely long beard and hair, which can stretch from the castle all the way to the streets. The people imitate him, so no one ever visits the barbershop. Disappointed, Rufus accidentally knocks over the bakery owner's talisman and, by chance, meets his daughter—the fairy Sophie. Sophie is currently grieving over the loss of her magic wand; if she cannot find it, she will slowly wither away until she dies. The two unfortunate souls sympathize with each other, but their moment is ruined by the bats' actions. Sophie's father insists that Rufus stole the wand, and Sophie's silence deeply saddens him.
To revive his barbershop, Rufus decides to change people's perceptions no matter what, and the first step is to cut the king's beard. However, the king's beard is long and tough, leaving Rufus helpless. By chance, while sneaking into the palace, he watches a play rehearsed by mice and learns the truth of the matter. It turns out that the king's brother, Gasper, is jealous of his brother's talent and is determined to force him to abdicate. After being sternly refused, he becomes furious and curses the king's beard, making it long, hard, and endlessly growing. Shocked, Rufus tries to escape but coincidentally encounters the fairy, who has been kidnapped by the bats. In an attempt to save Sophie, he accidentally falls off a cliff and discovers an inverted kingdom. This is the palace of the evil sorcerer Gasper, who fantasizes every day about having enough energy to flip the entire world upside down.
Rufus foolishly believes Gasper's lies and is captured. To save him, the fairy Sophie willingly breaks the seal on the magic wand. Gasper uses the immense energy to gradually flip the entire castle, while Sophie is on the verge of death after losing her wand. At the critical moment, Rufus defeats Gasper, not only lifting the curse on the king but also saving the fairy's life.
