A love comedy anime centered on a high school girl struggling with her feelings for her childhood male friend. The original work is the manga of the same name by Ai Yazawa, serialized in "Ribon." Directed by Junji Shimizu. Singer Rumi Shishido voices the main character. It was one of the titles in the "'96 Spring Toei Anime Fair" and a newly featured theatrical release.
Childhood friends Mikako and Tsutomu, who live in neighboring apartments, both attended Yazawa Art Academy. On the first of three days of club recruitment for new students, Mikako hears from Yūsuke that she is Tsutomu's true love interest. Uncharacteristically, she becomes conscious of Tsutomu. However, Tsutomu, neglecting club recruitment, is busy being fawned over by girls and getting carried away. Annoyed, Mikako ends up fighting with him. Having wanted to fix her usually unstraightforward personality, she decides to apologize to him the next day. By chance, she overhears a conversation between Tsutomu and Ayumi. Apparently, Tsutomu is staying at Ayumi's house that night. Realizing the intense pain in her chest, Mikako stays up all night sewing pajamas and resolves to confess her feelings. On the final day, Mikako searches for Tsutomu but cannot find him. At that moment, a giant advertising balloon modeled after Mikako soars high into the sky from the rooftop. Tsutomu had borrowed Ayumi's warehouse to make this balloon. Thus, having confirmed Tsutomu's feelings, Mikako embraced him forever.
