"Is There a Doctor in the Mouse?"
The 130th theatrical short in the "Tom and Jerry" series, and the third episode produced and directed by Chuck Jones.
After drinking a self-made potion, Jerry becomes incredibly fast, repeatedly snatching Tom's food without Tom even being able to see him—until Tom discovers the truth using a camera...
This episode shares similarities in plot with the 30th episode "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Mouse," which parodies "Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde."
The title is a pun on the common English phrase "Is There a Doctor in the House?" This phrase is said to have originated in theaters, where "House" refers to areas other than the stage and backstage. It was often used to call for help from any doctors who might be among the audience if someone suddenly fell ill. Later, some plays used this phrase in similar situations, usually for comedic effect—for example, in the 17th episode of "Tom and Jerry," "Mouse Trouble," Jerry once held up a sign with this phrase (calling for help from the audience on Tom's behalf).
