As an organization with ancient origins—tasked with safeguarding the peace of the realm—the Spirit-Watching Mansion should have commanded universal respect. Yet, over the past month, several targeted assassinations of its members had occurred, forcing the entire mansion, from top to bottom, to take the threat seriously. Mando was a low-level nobody at the very bottom of the Spirit-Watching Mansion. Due to a congenital defect, he couldn’t harness spiritual power like his peers, so he was perpetually overlooked, drifting through his days in a daze. News of the murder spread throughout the mansion, and one particular detail from the crime scene caught Mando’s attention. His curiosity ultimately led him to stumble into the investigation, risking his own future in the process. To uncover the truth, Mando decided to infiltrate the mansion’s forbidden archive, hoping to find crucial clues. On the night of his operation, he coincidentally encountered a mysterious intruder breaking into the archive. The intruder killed the elder guarding the archive, stole the mansion’s inherited sacred text, and set the archive ablaze. Mando witnessed it all and pursued the intruder in hopes of retrieving the text, but he was toyed with and ultimately captured as a suspect. After a trial and conviction, he was thrown into a death cell to await execution. On the day of his execution, at the brink of life and death, Mando descended into madness and unleashed a power unlike anything before. With this newfound strength, he managed to escape. After regaining his senses, he learned from his only friend in the Spirit-Watching Mansion, Afan, that he was now a fugitive. Afan brought news but also attracted the pursuit of Jing Jing, the mansion’s young mistress, who was determined to capture Mando. After a chaotic battle, both Mando and Jing Jing fell off a cliff. Unconscious, they were discovered and taken away by a mysterious figure. This journey would force Mando not only to confront the brutal truth behind the unresolved case but also to unravel the bizarre mystery of his own origins…
