The anime consists of 52 episodes. Produced and released by the American side, it adopts a revolutionary 3D animation style, with the Japanese version being a dubbed export version of the American edition. The American version divides the series into Season 1 with 26 episodes, Season 2 with 13 episodes, and Season 3 with 13 episodes. The Japanese version refers to the combined 26 episodes of Season 2 and Season 3 as "BEAST WARS METALS." When introduced domestically, all episodes were broadcast together and translated as "Super Warriors." The descendants of the Autobots, the Maximals (Hong Kong translation: Missum), and the descendants of the Decepticons, the Predacons (Hong Kong translation: Badagan), continue their battle. The Maximal leader Optimus Primal (Hong Kong translation: Audiwu) leads a team to pursue the Predacon leader Megatron (Hong Kong translation: Megatron). Both sides travel through time and space to prehistoric Earth and crash-land on the planet. To resist Earth's energy interference, they transform into beasts, initiating the Beast Wars. As they discover alien mechanisms on Earth, some Transformers undergo permanent changes into Trans Metals during clashes with the aliens, making the battles exceptionally intense. Megatron discovers the ancient starship, the Ark, and attempts to destroy the dormant Optimus Prime to alter history. Optimus Primal evolves into Trans Metal 2 by absorbing Optimus Prime's power during the conflict, while Megatron evolves into a red dragon by absorbing Megatron's power. Aliens intervene but are ultimately eliminated. In the end, Megatron locates the Decepticons' ancient warship, the Nemesis, and attempts to pilot it to destroy the Ark. Finally, the Nemesis is shot down, Megatron is captured, and the Maximals return to Cybertron.
