An anime film that revives the 1998 first installment of the Pokémon movie series, "Pokémon: The First Movie - Mewtwo Strikes Back," in full 3DCG. Mew, a phantom Pokémon said to be the "origin" of all Pokémon, appears only before adventurers who possess both "a pure heart and a strong desire to meet it." While Pokémon researchers worldwide pursue its whereabouts, a scientist finally discovers Mew's fossil and, based on it, engages in forbidden acts. The legendary Pokémon Mewtwo, created by human ego, is repeatedly subjected to experiments as a weapon without understanding the reason for its own existence, harboring hatred toward humanity in its heart. Actor Masachika Ichimura, who voiced Mewtwo in the first movie, reprises his role. Directed by Kunihiko Yuyama, who has helmed numerous Pokémon anime works, and Motonori Sakakibara of "Rudolph the Black Cat."
