"Extraterrestrial Boys and Girls: Part 1"
Director Mitsuo Iso, who received high acclaim and numerous awards—including the Excellence Award in the Animation Division of the Japan Media Arts Festival and the Japan SF Grand Prize—for his 2007 television anime "Den-noh Coil," returns to the director's chair for the first time in 15 years since that work. This is the first part of a theatrical release version, presenting a six-episode series in two halves. While "Den-noh Coil" pioneered the depiction of "life with AR" ahead of its time, Director Iso now portrays "life in space with AI." The story is set in 2045, a time when advancements in AI have made space travel accessible to everyone. When a group of boys and girls at Japan's commercial station "Anshin" are struck by an unexpected disaster, they embark on an adventure alongside AI in a world where the network has gone silent. Toshiyuki Inoue, who also worked on "Den-noh Coil," serves as the main animator, while Kenichi Yoshida, known for "Gundam Reconguista in G" and "Eureka Seven," handles the character design.
