Sixth-grader Okko loses her parents in a traffic accident and is taken in by her grandmother, who runs the traditional inn Haru-no-Ya. After meeting the friendly ghost Uribō, who has long resided at the inn, as well as the cheerful Miyo, the little demon Suzuki, and Matsuki—the heir to a rival inn—Okko unexpectedly begins training to become the young mistress of Haru-no-Ya! Unused to the work, she makes mistakes every day. Though discouraged at times, Okko gradually grows with the help of her mysterious companions, interacting with and serving all kinds of guests along the way.
