The story of "Junk Head" takes place 1,200 years after the war between humans and clones. Following that great conflict, clones and other mutants were driven by humans to the bottom layers of the city, where they have since lived a life cut off from the light of day. On this day, when humans launch a mechanical capsule to explore the mysteries of the city's depths, what fate awaits the investigator?
Japanese stop-motion animation enthusiast Takahide Hori spent four years single-handedly creating the remarkable stop-motion film "Junk Head," and the full version has now been officially released. The animation features a unique and profound worldview, delivering an engaging experience within its 30-minute runtime.
The CG segments in the film were handled by his friend Norimichi Seo, while everything else—including photography and character creation—was completed solely by Takahide Hori. This work also participated in the world's largest international short film festival, the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in France, and was selected as one of 75 standout works out of a total of 6,579 submissions. It was the only film made by a Japanese creator to achieve this honor.
