Nine-year-old Bao Xiaolong often sees strange things. In his eyes, animals are all adorable little spirits, but to others, they appear as disgusting and loathsome creatures like rats and cockroaches. Xiaolong’s peculiarities are not understood by his family, and he is ostracized by his classmates and friends. One day, a pink meteor flies into Xiaolong’s eyes, and he begins to hear the thoughts of the little spirits. The spirits keep emerging, exclaiming that Xiaolong is “that person”—the Spirit Master of the Golden Dragon. Just as Xiaolong is bewildered, he receives a letter from Headmaster Yoda of the Ziguei Spirit Master School.
