Over a century ago, the human world was devastated by the power of Time Strings from outer space. Mutation, slaughter, and war followed in quick succession. To escape the pursuit of monsters, humans gathered in the last sanctuary, Ximai City, living like trapped animals. On a rainy night, the commander of the Expeditionary Force, Kebei Dao, suddenly betrayed Ximai City and fled. That very night, the Expeditionary Force suffered a large-scale massacre. Yeyuze, who once served in an expedition squad and is now the captain of the garrison force, recalled what Kebei Dao had said to him before leaving—it seemed that Ximai City was hiding some conspiracy. Just as Yeyuze began his investigation, the higher-ups convened a meeting, intending to divide the remaining forces of the Expeditionary Force. President Du Lixun ordered that anyone connected to Kebei Dao be killed. A larger-scale purge in Ximai City thus began. Breaking through layers of soldiers, Yeyuze rescued Kebei Dao’s daughter, Twilight, and fled Ximai City. However, through their conversations, Yeyuze increasingly felt that the situation was far more complicated than he had imagined, and a greater conspiracy was slowly closing in on the entire human world...
