From the pre-war era onward, photographer Shoji Ueda devoted his life to creating photographic works while steadfastly maintaining an amateur spirit. Actor Saburo Sano, also hailing from the San'in region, has taken this photographic world and, through his own unique sensibility, engaged in the meticulous work of cutting and reassembling it. He expresses this through a new medium called "Ganime" (Picture Animation). The Ueda photographs featured this time include not only his most famous "Sand Dune Series," but also images of people and landscapes from the San'in region during the pre- and post-war periods, as well as scenes of Tokyo streets with running streetcars—allowing viewers to glimpse the culture of a bygone, nostalgic Japan.
