This is China's first war-themed animated film with an animal protagonist, based on the true story of an elephant who participated in World War II... The adorable little elephant Lin Wang lives in the scenic Yunnan border area between China and Myanmar, where he forms a deep friendship with his young master—a Chinese boy named Wang Zai. Little Lin Wang is quite mischievous; he steals delicious food, dances a wagging-bottom dance to court the "elephant princess" Miaomiao Dan, and competes with the Thai elephant king for beauty. However, Lin Wang can also be quite timid at times, often making a fool of himself.
War breaks out! Little Lin Wang and his young master Wang Zai are captured by the Japanese army's supply unit and forced into hard labor, enduring immense suffering. Lin Wang shares both joys and hardships with Allied prisoners of war and elephant companions from Thailand, Myanmar, and Cambodia, growing braver and stronger as he cleverly confronts the enemy. The Chinese Expeditionary Force liberates the area, and Lin Wang and his young master join the troops. Lin Wang often causes trouble, leading to countless comedic moments, but he matures through battle, overcoming his fear of explosions. At a critical moment in a fierce battle, the little elephant Lin Wang uses his extraordinary elephant-like courage and skills to help the troops annihilate the stubborn enemy, earning him the rank of second lieutenant...
Lin Wang is sent to Taiwan as a mascot commemorating the victory in the War of Resistance, where he settles down. Half a century later, the elderly "Grandpa Lin Wang" has grown very frail. He longs day and night for his childhood friend Wang Zai. Suddenly, the familiar sound of an elephant flute is heard, and a touching scene unfolds...
