Based on the widely known Chinese mythological legend "Investiture of the Gods," this anime tells the story of the young King Wu, Ji Fa, and his journey of growth through adversity. It chronicles how Ji Fa, starting from nothing and enduring countless hardships, ultimately ascends to the peak of his life.
In the final years of the Shang Dynasty, King Zhou's tyranny brought forth successive natural and man-made disasters, with demons and monsters plaguing the mortal world. The Nine-Tailed Fox, in pursuit of the legendary Dragon's Roar Sword, unleashed a storm of bloodshed in the Dragon's Roar Town on the western border of Xiqi. Ji Fa, the second son of Lord Xi Bo Hou Ji Chang, the ruler of Xiqi, eradicated this menace for the people, obtained the Dragon's Roar Sword, and severed one of the Nine-Tailed Fox's tails.
To avenge her severed tail, the Nine-Tailed Fox possessed the concubine Su Daji, entered the palace to bewitch King Zhou, framed the Ji family of Xi Bo Hou, and imprisoned Lord Ji Chang in Youli City for seven long years. With the help of Nezha, Lei Zhenzi, and others, Ji Fa rescued his father.
As King Zhou grew increasingly cruel, provoking the wrath of both heaven and the people, the various feudal lords united, appointing Ji Fa as their alliance leader. They engaged in a decisive battle against King Zhou's army at Muye City. Under the guidance of Jiang Ziya, Ji Fa comprehended the state of "selflessness," unleashing the Dragon's Roar Sword's power to its utmost. He shattered the Zhuxian Formation, led his troops to storm the capital, Zhaoge. King Zhou immolated himself, the Nine-Tailed Fox was executed, and the Zhou Dynasty was thus established.
