Aired on the Nippon TV network (Yomiuri TV in the Kansai region). This is the third series and a remake of the first series. It is fundamentally the same as the first series, but the segment from the first series where "Hatch is bullied by his siblings due to his appearance" was removed. The voice cast was completely renewed, with the role of Hatch changing from Kuriko Yoko to singer Hitomi Ishikawa. When released on home video, due to rights issues, the opening theme song could not be used as-is, so it was replaced with the insert song "Hatch, Let's Meet Again" for the recording. While the show was solely sponsored by Fujiya on Nippon TV, in other regions it was handled through program sales, airing either without sponsors or with local corporate sponsors. Furthermore, as a production by Nippon TV and Tatsunoko Pro, it was the first since the 1971 broadcast of "Animentary Ketsudan," marking an 18-year gap.
