In 1764, Horace Walpole published "The Castle of Otranto," the first Gothic novel in English literary history. The novel's enigmatic magical aura and the intricate plot revolving around Isabella's emotional journey captivated countless readers. For a long time, it was believed that the novel was based on a small town in southern Italy. However, Horace Webb, who had loved the novel since childhood, never managed to find a castle in Italy that matched the descriptions in the book. By chance, he discovered a clue from a postcard sent by a friend, leading to a significant find at Otrantský zámek near Náchod in the Czech Republic.
