The title "Riding Shotgun" refers to sitting in the front passenger seat of a car. This expression originates from the history of the American West, when stagecoach drivers sat on the right side, and there were frequent robberies on the roads. As a result, someone would always sit in the left passenger seat with a shotgun, just in case. Since then, sitting in the front passenger seat has been called "riding shotgun."
