Osvaldo Cavandoli was born in 1920 in Maderno, Italy. Shortly after, his family moved to Milan. As an adult, he worked as a technical designer at Alfa Romeo for four years. At the age of 23, he entered the animation industry, working for Pagot studio. From 1950 to 1958, he worked as an independent puppet producer and director. In 1969, he created the character that would make him famous worldwide: La Linea. This amusing character appeared extensively in advertisements and later became the star of independent short films. These films were shown in over 40 countries and received numerous awards. In 1974, Cavandoli created a comic book version of the character. In 1997, La Linea officially appeared on Italian television.
