Long ago, the land of Gaul was a dense, tranquil, and peaceful forest. After fierce battles, Emperor Caesar, leading his proud and powerful army, extended the iron hoof of his territorial expansion to the island of Britain, swiftly conquering all its tribes and territories. Only one village inhabited by Gauls, possessing a special secret weapon, remained unyielding to Caesar's forces. The troops Caesar sent there were replaced batch after batch, and this time, the illustrious General Bosanoy took on this heavy burden.
The secret behind the villagers' undefeated status lay in the magical potion brewed by the village druid. By drinking this potion made from rare herbs, the villagers would instantly gain superhuman abilities and become invincible. Upon learning this, General Bosanoy attempted several times to kidnap the druid, but to no avail. Unfortunately, during another battle, the druid was struck by a stone thrown by the mighty Obelix and lost his memory. Not only could he no longer brew the magical potion, but he also became insane and lost his reason.
Without their pillar of strength, the villagers grew anxious and fearful, constantly worried about another attack from the Roman army. These Gauls, aside from possessing magical strength, were also highly superstitious. A thunderstorm made them feel as if the sky was falling, and the weary villagers could only take shelter in the chief's house. Unexpectedly, a stranger—a fraud posing as a fortune-teller—entered the village. This suited the superstitious villagers perfectly, and aside from the brave Asterix and Obelix, the frightened villagers deeply believed everything the fortune-teller said.
Although Asterix drove the fortune-teller out of the village, the villagers still secretly sought him out in the forest. Learning of this, the Roman army used the fortune-teller to frighten the villagers, claiming that a great disaster would befall the Gaulish village, which led the villagers to decide to abandon their homes. The Roman army then occupied the area. Asterix and Obelix were not fooled; they hid near the village to care for the druid and accidentally cured him. With the druid's magical potion, the villagers punished the fraud and ultimately defeated the Romans.
