As night falls, a small supermarket remains as quiet as usual. The obese female cashier sets up the surveillance cameras, while the slender male clerk, wearing headphones, counts the items on the shelves. An elderly woman with slow movements wanders inside. A robber sneaks into the store unnoticed. No one pays attention to his arrival—the gunshot aimed at the cashier is muffled by noise, and the blood flowing from under the counter is mistaken for dirt and cleaned up by the male clerk. The only one feeling tense is the robber himself, who fumbles nervously, his nerves on edge. Startled by the sound of a toy doll, he finally fires another shot, killing the male clerk, before grabbing the money and fleeing. However, when the surveillance footage is retrieved by the police, they head straight to the old woman’s home… Opening film of Annecy 2008.
