"Steamboat Willie" is Walt Disney's first globally released sound animation film, featuring the famous character Mickey Mouse as the protagonist. The film premiered at the Colony Theater on 79th Street in New York on November 18, 1928, which is also celebrated as Mickey Mouse's birthday.
In the film, Mickey Mouse does not speak but instead moves and whistles along to lively music. His charming portrayal won the hearts of audiences and created a sensation throughout New York. Soon after, Mickey Mouse became a world-renowned "star." In 1932, the film even received a special Academy Award. It is said that when the film was screened, New Yorkers attended not for the plot, but to see this adorable mouse, who thoroughly entertained the citizens in the audience throughout those eight minutes.
