On a tranquil night, young Milo quarrels with his mother. Feeling that his words were too hurtful, Milo decides to apologize to her, but before he can, he witnesses a blinding light in the darkness abducting his mom. Chasing after it, he boards the mysterious spacecraft and unexpectedly finds himself transported millions of miles away to Mars. It turns out that Martians grow from the soil, and the females on Mars do not know how to care for children. To solve this, they invented nanny robots and began abducting mothers they deem suitable from Earth, extracting their memories and experiences to program into the robots. Milo learns from Gribble, a human hiding near the Martian garbage dump, that once his mother's memories are extracted, she will forget everything. With the help of Gribble and a Martian girl named Ki, Milo embarks on an impossible mission to rescue his mother... This film is adapted from the original work by illustrator Berkeley Breathed.
