The story takes place in Russia in 1916. The fall of the Tsar leaves the infant princess Anastasia (voiced by Meg Ryan) and her grandmother, Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna (voiced by Angela Lansbury), displaced and adrift. Amidst the chaos of war and revolution, the two become separated. Ten years pass in the blink of an eye. The former princess has grown into a beautiful young woman named Anya, while the Dowager Empress, who has never stopped longing for her granddaughter, begins offering a lavish reward for information on the princess's whereabouts. By chance, a con artist named Dimitri (voiced by John Cusack) encounters Anya. Unaware that Anya is actually the lost princess Anastasia, Dimitri decides to train her to impersonate the princess to claim the hefty reward. In the process, the two unexpectedly develop genuine feelings for each other. Anya has always been haunted by questions about her past and her true identity. This time, will she finally uncover the truth she seeks?
