The original television anime and theatrical film "Showa Monogatari," a collaborative production by video and animation companies THINK Corporation and Waoworld, along with six television stations from Japan's Kanto, Tokai, and Kinki regions, officially released project details today. "Showa Monogatari" is set in the bustling Tokyo of the high-growth period, depicting the heartwarming story of an ordinary large family against the backdrop of events such as the opening of the Tokyo Olympics, the launch of the Tokaido Shinkansen, and the completion of Haneda International Airport. The Yamazaki family, who run a factory in Tokyo, consists of the grandmother, father "Yuzo," mother "Kanoko," eldest son "Taichi" (a university student), eldest daughter "Yuko" (a high school student), and the lively fifth-grade elementary school boy and second son "Kohei," who loves baseball and shonen manga. Despite the existing discord between father Yuzo and Taichi, and Yuko going through her rebellious teenage years... this family finds their fragmented hearts brought together by the unfolding Tokyo Olympics... The official statement notes that, due to Japan's unique market conditions and its aging society with declining birthrates, this animation was specially created as a work suitable for the whole family to enjoy together, taking four and a half years to produce. Unlike mainstream anime typically found in the Japanese market, "Showa Monogatari" employs presentation techniques that are easy for audiences to understand and meticulously portrays the atmosphere of Japan in Showa 39 (1964), allowing viewers aged 60 and above to also enjoy it thoroughly.
