While nature bestows endless growth energy upon plants, it also brings storms that can devour everything. Yet no matter what, when everything is covered in snow and the earth returns to tranquility, new life will emerge where old life has vanished. In the end, the farmer pushes open the door, brushes away the last trace of white snow, and receives nature's first gift of the new year—windmill seeds carried by the wind, along with windmills whirling across the mountains and fields.
The inspiration for this film came from a remark made by a friend during Joaquin Baldwin's road trip to Palm Springs. A year later, he expanded it into a story, and the animation—from initial production to final sound mixing—took only four months!
The use of camera angles, combined with the black silhouette effect of the characters, complements the entire story perfectly and significantly reduces the workload in production. This approach is highly worth referencing for independent animators. Of course, this isn't an encouragement to cut corners~~ The immense effort he put into the ever-changing, magnificent backgrounds is evident. The contrast between complexity and simplicity, movement and stillness—how cleverly the backgrounds and characters are paired.
