An OVA sequel to "8 Man," the shonen manga by Kazumasa Hirai (story) and Jiro Kuwata (art) that was also adapted into a TV anime in 1963. A total of 4 volumes were released. Private detective Hazama, who is pursuing a certain scientist, is attacked by a vicious cyborg and loses his life. Dr. Tani, who was both Hazama's client and the developer of 8 Man, revives Hazama as a new 8 Man. While struggling with the fact that he has become a non-human entity, Hazama, as 8 Man, pursues the mastermind behind a series of cyborg crimes.
The story is set 7 years after the final chapter of the original manga, and characters from the original version, including Dr. Tani, reappear in supporting roles. It is a well-crafted work that incorporates the appeal of the original "8 Man"—such as combat scenes utilizing his signature ability to move faster than a bullet, easily dodging hails of gunfire and striking opponents with imperceptible speed, and the depiction of Hazama's anguish over becoming a cyborg—while being reconstructed in a modern style.
