The Eastern Front, First Ward, First Defense Squadron, commonly known as the Spearhead Squadron. Composed of the "Eighty-Six"—boys and girls "excluded" from the Republic of San Magnolia—they threw themselves into the brutal war against the unmanned Legion weapons deployed by the Giadian Empire. And then, the Spearhead Squadron, whose numbers dwindled one after another, was assigned a "Special Reconnaissance Mission" with a 0% success rate and an indefinite mission period. It was, in essence, a death sentence from their homeland. Yet the five members—leader Shinei Nouzen, Raiden Shuga, Theoto Rikka, Anju Emma, and Kurena Kukumila—chose to keep moving forward, to keep fighting. It wasn't that they were chasing hope or a future. For them, the "battlefield" had become their only place to belong. And ironically, that wish would come true in a new land they had unknowingly set foot into.
