Brazilian gold medal screenwriter Luiz Bolognesi (The Great Scare) makes an extraordinary debut, directing his first feature film with this grand and majestic sci-fi epic animation. Set across five centuries and four distinct periods in Brazil, the story follows the protagonist through cycles of life and death, weaving between history and the future. Much like animation master Hayao Miyazaki, the director insists on hand-drawn creation, infusing the animation style and character designs with a touch of persistence and a retro aesthetic. Shanghai International Film Festival’s longtime friend Selton Mello (The Clown) and Cannes Film Festival Newcomer Award winner Rodrigo Santoro (Eleanor, the Soccer Saint) also lend their voices to the film.
