In Harima, Musashi and his group encounter the large samurai force led by Uesugi Tatsuomi—the Uesugi Samurai Corps. Their goal is to subjugate the colossal oni known as the "Cannon Battle Dragon Yamata no Orochi," which has entrenched itself on Awaji Island. There, they also find the Takeda Samurai Corps led by Takeda Naotora, samurai of Musashi's own age like Shimazu Akihiro and Amago Katsumi, as well as the somewhat unworldly and shy princess, Saruwatari Mitsuru. Amidst a whirlpool of clashing intentions, Musashi and his companions join the battle to destroy the oni. Their target, Yamata no Orochi, is said to be an impenetrable oni that "has never been wounded by anyone." Musashi and his comrades now face an unprecedented, fierce battle.
