In 1999, the existence of the tenth planet in the solar system approaching Earth was confirmed. Harumori Hajime, a middle school boy living in a town on the outskirts of Tokyo, loses both his parents in an explosion accident that occurred at his family's electronic workshop when he returns home from school. Caught in the blast himself, he encounters a mysterious woman at the hospital where he is admitted. Several days later, when he visits the Mount Tsukuba Observatory, where his uncle serves as director, the same mysterious woman from the hospital is there. Her name is Yukino Yayoi, and she is said to be his uncle's assistant. Around the same time as the explosion accident, strange incidents begin to occur around Hajime. The shadow of a mysterious organization, the 1000-Year Thieves, flickers in the background. Eventually, Hajime learns that the mysterious planet approaching Earth is named La Metal, and that Yayoi's true identity is the 1000-Year Queen, sent from that very La Metal, who has secretly guided Earth for a long time. And the fateful moment—"September 9, 1999, at 00:09:09"—was drawing closer with each passing second.
